12/14/2016 Portland, OR – The Grain and Gristle has always had a connection with Upright Brewing, being co-owned by the brewery’s founder, Alex Ganum, but until recently the only beer you could definitively find on tap there was the Engelberg Pilsener alongside a rotating list of other great local brews. That’s changed, as here on out you can find Upright’s complete year round lineup full time. Below are a few notes of what to expect the next time you visit:
– Engelberg Pils, Supercool IPA, and Saison Vert always on tap
– An even heavier focus on seasonals, one-offs, and small batch beers from Upright
– A small selection of vintage bottles (in-house only)
– A variety of pour sizes, including taster trays
– More emphasis on food pairings
In addition, farmhouse style beer fans can look forward to another year round beer arriving in the spring of 2017 composed of barrel aged saisons of varying vintages, a beer that will perhaps be both the most food friendly and intriguing on its own of the list.
The Grain and Gristle has always prided itself on offering fantastic local libations and will continue to feature other local breweries and cideries that also follow suit of being both great with food and enjoyable on their own.
The kitchen at Grain and Gristle has been cooking comfortable plates aimed to pair with craft beers since 2010. Solid relationships with local ranchers and farmers mean 100% pasture-raised beef and natural pork from the butcher shop at Old Salt are the only meat you will find, prepared by a talented staff that also sources produce from the best growers in our region. They use a gentle hand to let the quality of the ingredients shine.
For folks who found the brewery’s tasting room hours limited or lamented the lack of food there, this is a great opportunity to try Upright’s full range with thoughtfully prepared, truly seasonal food.
