Revere Portland Brewing’s New Holiday Beer
Tim’s Holiday IPA Marks Final Beer in Home Brewer’s Series

PORTLAND, Ore. (December 6, 2016) — As Christmas tree farmers string up lights over parking lots across the city, Portland Brewing and the Oregon Brew Crew launch their final collaboration of the year – Tim’s Holiday IPA. Featuring brown and dark wheat malts from the US, England and Germany, this is a special beer for a special time of year. Oregon Brew Crew’s Tim Brinson crafted the original recipe and brewed the beer with Portland Brewing’s Head Brewer, Ryan Pappe. This release marks the finale of the 2016 Home Brewer’s Series.

In the spirit of giving, Portland Brewing will donate a portion of the proceeds from Tim’s Holiday IPA to the Oregon Food Bank. Get to know the beer’s creator and the rest of the Portland Brewing team at the Portland Brewing Company Taproom on Tuesday, December 13, at 5:30pm for the launch of Tim’s Holiday IPA.

Brinson’s IPA distinguishes itself from other holiday beers by its distinct hop flavor and a spicy, woody bitterness that balances the malt blend. “The malt base was designed as a variation of a Belgian Dubbel, which I decided to split to make an English Brown and Brown IPA,” Brinson says. Heavy dry-hopping further develops the taste, bringing out the resin, pine, and citrus flavors of a true Oregon IPA. Pappe describes this beer as “a winter warmer,” explaining that “every sip reveals new levels of holiday spice, roasty dryness, and dried fruit.” A rich caramel and chocolate roast balances the heaping hordes of hoppiness hiding under the tree. The beer comes in at ABV: 7.2% | IBU: 60

Portland Brewing would like to thank all the passionate beer makers and drinkers who helped make the 2016 Home Brewer’s Series a success. The three-beer series was designed to recognize the innovative community that makes Oregon an internationally-recognized brewing hub. Tim’s Holiday IPA is available for a limited-time this holiday season, and can be found at the Portland Brewing Taproom, as well as select bars and taprooms throughout the city. May your holidays be merry, bright, and full of the complexity of flavor only winter warmers like Tim’s Holiday IPA can provide.
