Sisters Fresh Hop Festival Showcases 24 Oregon Breweries!

Over 3 dozen Fresh Hop style beers will be on tap at this annual ‘taste-ival’ on September 27.

Sisters, Oregon – The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce and Ray’s Food Place present the fifth annual Sisters Fresh Hop Festival, Saturday, September 27 from 12pm to 8pm at the Village Green Park in Sisters. The event will include 2 dozen Oregon breweries featuring their best “fresh hop” brew and some crowd favorites, along with free live music, food, and much more.

“We are so pleased to welcome 24 breweries from across our state to this annual event,” says Erin Borla, marketing & public relations coordinator for the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce. “This is the most breweries we’ve ever had here in Sisters – we know everyone will find something pleasing to their palate at this event!”

The Sisters Fresh Hop Festival is the first in a series of Fresh Hop Festivals across the state of Oregon throughout the fall. Admission to the event is free and open to all ages. A souvenir taster pint glass, sponsored by Hop N’ Bean, is available, and required to taste the brews, for $5 and tasting tickets are $1 per 4 oz. taste.

“This is an awesome event that we are very proud to be a part of,” says Wade Underwood, owner of Three Creeks Brewing Company and a Founding Partner of the Festival. “I enjoy sampling

the creative offerings of our ever growing brewing community all year long, but Fresh Hop season has its own unique allure.”

When asked about the excitement Underwood has for fresh hop beers and what makes them different he says, “once a year at harvest, we see an explosion of creativity all around one basic premise; taking hops from’ Farm to Finished Brew’ in a matter of hours. We are on the phone with our growers weeks in advance of the harvest – moving our brew schedules around to ensure our tanks are ready on the day they harvest the variety (of hops) we have chosen. When the big day finally arrives, the aroma from the freshly harvested hops is wondrous and fills the entire brewpub. Absolutely amazing! The finished results are unique and impressive. I’m looking forward to sharing our 2014 creations again (as well as getting an early peak at what our fellow brewers conjured up this year!)”

All the breweries for the 2014 festival are from within the state of Oregon, making this a truly hometown festival. Over 45 different beers representing several different styles will be available for guests to sample and enjoy. Log on to for up to date information about breweries and their products we are expecting at this event! All Fresh Hop beers at the Festival are eligible to win the coveted “Golden Bunny” award, sponsored by FivePine Lodge & Conference Center, for the best fresh hop beer – done by popular vote of attendees.

92/9FM will kick off the Festival with a live remote followed by live music, sponsored by Columbia Distributing. Festival goers will enjoy the country tunes of Mac McCartney in the

afternoon and get ready to kick up your heels and dance with Dennis McGregor and Friends as the headliner.

Additional sponsors of the 2014 event include: Aspen Lakes Golf Course, The Bulletin, 1859 Magazine, 92/9FM, and The Nugget Newspaper. A special thanks to Three Creeks Brewing Company and the Oregon Brewer’s Guild for their help and support with this event.
