Portland Brewing Volunteer Time Off Initiative Encourages Community Engagement
Proceeds from the 2016 Home Brewers Series Benefit the Oregon Food Bank

PORTLAND, Ore. (March 10, 2017) — Dozens of employees from Portland Brewing Company recently spent the day volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank. The effort is part of Portland Brewing’s volunteer time off program, where employees are encouraged to volunteer between one to two days a year in local communities where the company sells and markets its beer. In addition to volunteering, Portland Brewing presented the Oregon Food Bank with a portion of the proceeds, $2,000, from their 2016 Home Brewers Series, another initiative to connect with the community.

According to Bruce Kehe, Associate Brand Manager at Portland Brewing Company, the company prioritizes community and environmental stewardship as part of its overall approach. “Portland Brewing is committed to the city of Portland,” said Kehe. “Forming relationships within the Portland community and investing in meaningful projects that strengthen our city, improve our environment, and fit within the Portland Brewing culture is part of our mission.”

Company-wide, 50 plus employees from Portland Brewing participated in the volunteer day at the Oregon Food Bank. Volunteers worked to sort and pack over 8,000 pounds of food to produce 14,163 meals for Oregon families in need.
