Jeff Dense, Professor of Political Science at Eastern Oregon University, will release his findings on the economic impact of this summer’s 26th annual Oregon Brewers Festival tomorrow, September 17 at 5:30pm at the Cascade Brewing Barrel House, located at 939 SE Belmont St. just before their weekly NW Sour beer tapping called Tap It Tuesday.
NOTE: A full press release with the findings will be issued on the morning of Sept. 18; however, anyone wishing to ask Dense questions in person or receive the findings in advance, is encouraged to attend the event.
Dense and his Politics and Beer class administered 748 on-site interviews from July 24 to 27, 2013; respondents were queried on demographic factors, along with estimates of OBF related expenditures in tourism-related categories, including transportation, lodging, meals, gasoline purchases, non-beer related recreation, beer purchased to take home, and expenditures at OBF.
The analysis utilized IMPLAN (IMpact Analysis for PLANning) data and software package to estimate the economic impact of the Oregon Brewers Festival on Multnomah County.
