SILVERTON, Ore. — There are many beer festivals in the Northwest, but none in such a beautiful setting as The Oregon Garden. The 10th annual Oregon Garden Brewfest will take place April 25 through 27 at The Oregon Garden’s Grand Hall and will feature 125 handcrafted beers, ciders and mead from more than 60 different breweries from across the nation. Event hours are Noon to 11pm Friday & Saturday, and Noon to 5pm Sunday.
Located in the historic town of Silverton, just an hour’s drive from the Portland metropolitan area, the Oregon Garden Brewfest also features live music from area bands, local food, tasting lessons and beer trivia by Women Enjoying Beer, a Brewer’s Tasting Dinner and a homebrew competition. The Oregon Garden Brewfest is for ages 21 and over on Friday and Saturday; minors are welcome all hours on Sunday.
Admission begins at $15 and includes a souvenir tasting glass and five tasting tickets (admission increases when live music begins). Three-day and VIP options are also available. Advance tickets goes on sale in December at www.oregongarden.org.
Once on-site, a full glass of beer costs four tickets, and a taster costs one ticket. Additional tasting tickets may be purchased for $1 apiece. Designated drivers pay a cover charge of $5 and receive a bottle of water. The event is cash only, with an ATM on-site. Parking at The Oregon Garden is $5 per car; free shuttles are available to various locations in town.
The third annual Oregon Garden Brewers Tasting Dinner will take place on the eve of the festival, April 24 at 7 pm. This six-course dinner, which features small plates paired with local beers from six area breweries, is attended by participating brewers, industry insiders and a few lucky beer aficionados; a limited number of tickets are available to the public online at www.oregongarden.org.
Make a night of it and book a room at The Oregon Garden Resort, which is offering a Brewfest Package for $209 that includes accommodations, breakfast for two, two one-day tickets to the Brewfest and two food booth vouchers. The package is available April 24 through April 27; reserve online or call 503-874-2500.
